LIB: Rolla Library Resources: Citations - MLA, APA and Tools

This guide will help you find Library resources as a student at East Central College at the Rolla location.

Citation Tip

Many of the library's databases include citations or citation tools.

You may be able to just cut and paste the citation for that exact resource or article, but...

Always double check the format of the citation that is generated for you!

Other databases - many are located at the bottom of the article/resource or in a tool bar option.

Citation Styles

Two common citation styles used for writing and documenting research assignments/papers are MLA and APA.

The MLA (Modern Language Association) Citation Style is widely used to write papers and document sources in the arts and humanities.

The APA (American Psychological Association) Citation Style is widely used to write papers and document sources in education, science, and the social sciences.

*Please consult with your Instructor to find out what citation style is required for your assignment or paper.

Manuals and brief handouts for the MLA Citation Style and APA Citation Style are available at the Library.

You may also consult a Learning Center English Specialist and/or a pamphlet for assistance.
