International Education Week

It highlights programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the U.S.

International Education Week (IEW), November 16-20, 2020, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences  (https://iew.state.gov/)

Visit here on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to watch a video from current ECC students talk about their home countries. Then complete the survey and get the password for FREE bowl of soup or dessert from Cafe Central.

 

Monday - Friday; Virtual Escape Room

This drawing has ended.  Students who complete the Virtual Escape Room will be entered in a daily drawing during International Education Week. Each day, one lucky student will receive a metal ECC water bottle and a pair of ECC sunglasses, courtesy of Public Relations. At the end of the week, we will have a Grand Prize Drawing, and two international restaurant gift cards will be awarded, one to a student in Union, and one to a student in Rolla.
We are grateful to the Foundation for providing these spectacular prizes!

Tuesday, Nov. 17 online - Soup and Stories

Watch Tuesday’s videos, Scotland or Ivory Coast, and complete the survey for a password for free bowl of Cream of Broccoli Soup or a Scotch Fancies dessert from Café Central.  Must be claimed on Tuesday on a first come first serve basis.

Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m - Film and Lecture series

Then, join us via Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation and discussion led by Lindenwood University Associate Professor of Marketing, Dr. Kyle Coble.  Zoom link will be provided in registration.
American Factory (美国工厂; 美國工廠) is a 2019 American documentary film directed by Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, about Chinese company Fuyao's factory in Moraine, a city near Dayton, Ohio, that occupies Moraine Assembly, a shuttered General Motors plant. It won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Dr. Kyle Coble is an associate professor of marketing at Lindenwood University. His research focuses on the “otherization” in consumers’ minds and the steps that creativity can take to bridge these gaps. Originally from Union, Mo., he graduated from Saint Louis University in 2012 with a PhD in International Business and Marketing. Dr. Coble teaches International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Social Media Marketing and Marketing Management and once taught a class on marketing fads that was a lot of fun." - Leigh Kolb, ECC Assistant Professor.
